Sometime last year I purchased a 5 CD case called "100 hits of the 80's". That is some brilliant music. I played the CD's back to back everyday. These people had it going on! The sounds just take you back to the days when you were a kid. I was born in the 80's and I remember my dad and my older brothers playing this music. I was a kid then but they still spark a memory.
Then one day I was at a mall with my girlfriend. We went to look for a PlayStation game for my niece. While we were walking around, I saw a 4 CD case of "100 hits of the 60's" and I immediately wanted it. It was in December last year so I really needed to manage my finances so that i don't miss out on the partying. So i could not purchase it. My girlfriend saw that sad puppy look face i had as I hugged the CD's good bye.
So, on my birth day she surprised me with the CD's. I was so excited. I couldn't wait to test drive them. I waited for the day when I am going to be stuck in traffic then throw them in my CD player. And boy, did that day come.
At first, it sounded like i was listening to adds! Then it started sounding like I was watching one of those comedies, like Charlie Chaplin, produced in black and white!
The 60's has some of the most terrible music I've ever heard! But once you get used to it, its not actually that bad. Its very funny music that eases your head after a long day but can be very annoying when stuck in traffic. It doesn't go well with hooters all around.
What made me happy was that I actually fell in love with some of the songs. But my first love is "Happy together" by The Turtles. I even downloaded the lyrics for it.
That's how you can create your own Karaoke night. Get the 60's hits, get the lyrics, get the booze and sing the night away! You'll have the time of your life...and a hangover.
Its worth it!

Men In Pink
I live in Pretoria and work in Randburg. So, I travel to work every morning using the N1 highway. I am getting used to the traffic but there are days where it grills and that is round about the time when my mind becomes inquisitive over irrelevant stuff.
Somewhere during December 2007 this happened to me. My mind just started asking questions that had no answers. The one question that stands out the most was, "couldn't they have made male flamingos black or brown? Or couldn't they have kept them pink but gave them a walk that is not so feminine?"
I shared this with my brother and he totally agreed.
I guess some good does come out of bad traffic. It creates unusual topics which trigger creativity.

My Writers Block
This is actually my second blog. The first one lasted only just about a week. Its not because I am lazy ass, which I am. But not in this instance. I sufferd from a writers block. You need to know though that this started a long time ago. A couple of years after varsity. I used to write poetry...Good poetry. But one morning I woke up and my mind retired. I would be working on one poem and ideas about another poem would pop up and my head would be all over the show. I just wouldn't know how to construct a piece.
Then, early this year a friend of mine told me about blogging and it really brought back my urge to write again. I started a blog and my old problems surfaced again. I had a cuople of articles then I flopped.
Now, I needed to understand exactly what was happening to me. Why i have this writers block and what causes it. Because i tried drinking water, jumping up and down for hours, hanging up side down on a pole (Don't know where i got that!!!) and other stuff like smacking myself but nothing worked.
So, I did some research. I ran into an article about this phenomenon by author, Arthur Hermansen. It was a long article but to cut it short he basically says this happens because "part of the creativity process happens to reside in the subcoscious mind, where coscious recognition is not present." It really makes sense because during that period you really feel ideas flowing through but u cant capture them. Its like being in a room full of flies. You see them but you cant catch them. Everything happens so fast and it gets confusing.
I found my ways to avoid this. A good piece of paper works wonders. Just throw everything randomly on a piece of paper. Once you have it infront of you, its easy to organize the raw data.
The writing shall go on!

Big Up!
Before i even start having something 2 say 2 u, i want to start by thanking a good friend of mine. She inspired me to get back to writing again. I guess she felt the spark within me that needed to write again and she capitilised on that. She is a brilliant writer who believes in this Art.
Our conversation started when I told her about my boring life. I told her how empty it is. I told her it lacked action. Thats when she told me I must make the action. That was a slap on the face that said, " wake up my boy!"
So big up to her! You are a true friend indeed.
